Under the electrochemical action of metal, a small quantity of iron dissolves out of enamel cans and exists as ferrous iron in the sealed canned food, ranging from 1ppm to 10 ppm, which is easy for people to absorb. Provided that there is 5ppm iron in every 350ml tinplate can, then each can of food can provides 1.75mg iron, which is about one tenth of 18mg daily iron intake by human body. In case of rich vitamin C contained in the canned fruit and vegetable juice, iron will be easier for assimilating. That is why this food tinplate can is so widely adopted for packaging food.
